More Walls!

Today Mike built the 2 end walls and put sheeting on them.  He also took the gutter off the back of the house and cut a section of the roof off in a few places in order to tie in the new walls.

It took quite a bit to build this wall because of the 3 windows

We have walls!! (6/29/13)

Mike spent the day building the outside walls for the addition.  He built the back wall in 3 sections on the floor and then tipped them up and nailed them into place.  He put up the sheeting on the outside and cut the holes in for the door and windows.  It is actually starting to look like something now!!

Chimney (6/25/13)

Tonight Mike removed the chimney on the roof to get ready for the trusses to be put on the roof.  I removed the siding from the back of the house and Mike removed the soffit to get it ready for framing!

Kitchen Corner & Sheeting

Tonight Mike pulled off the end wall section of the house that hung out further than the rest of the house but was on the driveway-side wall.  He put up a new sheet of plywood over the end section of the wall as this will be a permanent outside wall.  He also finished putting down all the floor sheeting and I helped screw it down.

Trash & Dirt

Today we didn't make any progress on the house, but we did get a few things cleaned up.  We decided that we don't want to get a dumpster and have it sit in the driveway until this project is done....which is probably going to be a long time; but since Mike tore off a large part of the house yesterday we have a lot of trash to get rid of!  Instead of getting a dumpster we decided to put the trash on our trailer and haul it away when it gets full or we need to use the trailer.  Mike built sides for it today so we can get more on it.  I loaded it up with all the trash from yesterday and got it cleaned back up around the house.

We also still had a mound of dirt in the backyard from when the hole was dug out, so I shoveled that out and we spread it out in some low area's in the yard.  We put out our fire ring so we can burn any wood that we have sitting around.

Blowing out the Kitchen (6/22/13)

Today Mike took out the outside wall in the kitchen in the back of the house.  It went out past the rest of the house about 18 inches and in order the get the flooring/ceiling sheeting finished it needed to be removed.  It was really cool having the wall removed, I made dinner with it out and I felt like I lived down south or something :)  He framed up the wall that will be the new kitchen wall and put temporary sheeting over the outside until the rest of the outside is framed in and buttoned up.

I screwed down the flooring sheeting that Mike put down during the last week using Mark and Paul's awesome screw gun!  It worked awesome and made it super quick!

Our kitchen is now a lot smaller than it was, so hopefully we can speed up this project and so we can have more kitchen space!
