Kitchen/Living Paint - Flooring Started (4/29/14)

Today I painted a final coat on the living room and 2 coats on the kitchen and hall going to the bedroom/bathroom.

Mike started the flooring in the dining room.  Got the first row set and hopefully it goes a little faster from there!

The rest of the old hardwood flooring was removed in the living room and I have $100 in hand for it :)  So cool that we didn't have to spend the time removing it and getting rid of it!

Dining/Living Paint - Kitchen Knock-Down (4/28/14)

Today I painted 2 coats of paint in the dining room. I also got the first coat on the living room.

Mike did the knock-down on the kitchen ceiling.

It feels so good to be done with the big messy parts of the big rooms in the house!  Now to keep moving on paint and get started on flooring! Exactly one week from today our cabinets will be installed!!  (I'm not counting or anything!!!)

We put an ad on Craigslist to get rid of our old hardwood flooring - you take it out and pay us $100....and yes we had a guy come today!  Saves us the time of taking it out and most likely paying to get rid of it!  He removed all the flooring in the office and walk-in closet and started on the living room.  He'll be back tomorrow for the rest!

Living & Dining Knock-Down Ceilings (4/27/14)

Today Mike did the knock-down on both the living room and dining room ceilings.  I got the kitchen sanded, the ceiling primed, and a start on the paint in the living room.  Thanks so much to my Mother for watching the kids while we sanded!!!  We blocked off the stairs and both entry ways into the kitchen so the dust didn't get every where, it would have been a nightmare having them there!!

Feels so good to be done with the sanding in the big rooms upstairs!  It makes such and mess and is probably my least favorite thing to do!  Now onto the new flooring!  One more week until the cabinets come!

Kitchen Sheetrock (4/26/14)

Today Mike finished a little framing in the kitchen, insulated, put up the poly, and sheetrocked!! I taped and mudded all the seams.

I put plastic up to cover the walls in the living room and dining room so Mike can do the knock-down on the ceilings.

Living Room Ceiling Primed (4/25/14)

Today I primed the ceiling in the living room so it is all ready for the knock-down.

We also had an electrical and framing inspection for the kitchen and office, all went good so we are set to start sheetrocking the kitchen!

Living room Sanding (4/24/14)

Today I sanded the living room.  It literally took me all day!  Sanding is so not fun at all, we didn't go to bed until midnight by the time I was finished and cleaned up. Glad I'm done with the living room and dining room, all I have left is the kitchen.

A little preview of the nasty dust!

 Mike finished the plumbing in the kitchen; ran the vent pipe and plumbing to the sink.  Put pressure on it and it all tests out great!  He also finished the electrical.  We are all set for our electrical and framing inspections tomorrow in the kitchen and office!

Dining Sanding (4/23/14)

Today I sanded the wall around the wet bar area, the beam in the dining room, and the hallway to the bedroom/bathroom.  It is now ready for the ceiling to be done and then paint.

Mike finished running the electrical in the kitchen.  We have a little more plumbing to do in the kitchen and then an inspection on Friday and sheetrock this weekend!

Closet LOVE! (4/22/14)

Mike finished the flooring in our master bedroom walk-in closet today.  He also got the shelving and rods in!!  I'm beyond excited!!  We've been living with basically one jam packed closet and clothes shoved in dresser drawers for awhile now; we finally will be able to have all of our clothes hanging again!  It's a good feeling!  The closet literally feels like the size of our old dining room space, I cannot wait to fill it up!!

Ready for action!

We've been searching high and low for the perfect chairs for our front porch.  We even bought one and returned it because it just wasn't the right one.  We wanted something that looked a little bulky but wasn't too huge since we don't have that much space up there.  I found these at Pier 1 today and I think they may be the ones!

Pads can be changed at any time, I thought the yellow would be fun for summer!

A Master Move-In (4/21/14)

Mike finished putting in the flooring in our bedroom, just has the closet left to go.  I couldn't wait any longer to get in a normal room so we moved in!  Yippee!  Feels so luxurious compared to what we've been sleeping in for the last few months (even not being completely finished yet)!

Master Bedroom Flooring (4/20/14)

Today Mike put in a lot more of the flooring in our bedroom.  He almost finished it, there's just a little left in the room and then the closet.  

He also finished the sheetrock on the small wall that the wet bar will be on and I started mudding it.

Master Bedroom Paint (4/19/14)

Today I painted the master bedroom and walk-in closet.

Celebrating another big accomplishment with margaritas of course!

Mike finished the plumbing and water lines in the wet bar area in the dining room and put up sheetrock on that wall.

Mike got a start on the flooring in the master bedroom, didn't get too far but at least it's started!
