Lower Part of Front Posts Done (8/28/14)

Tonight Mike got all the lower parts of the front posts put on.  He also put the caps on the so I just need to stain them.  

Another thing I've been tackling is our storage room downstairs.  It's really the pits!!  This will eventually be Kate's room.  There are quite a few things that need to be done though before that can happen......just to name a few.....cut in a larger window in the block wall, remove a closet, move the furnace/hot water heater/water softner, and find a new home for all this junk!!  First thing we really want to get done is cut in the window before it gets too cold out.  Today I rearranged/got rid of things and took everything off the shelf that is in front of the window.  The other shelf to the right has minimal things left and this is the wall that has the closet that needs to be removed.  I'd love to jump into that too but we really need to get our bathroom done upstairs once the posts are done out front.

1 of 3 of Lower Posts Up on Front Porch (8/27/14)

Today I painted the front boards on the porch and the fronts of the steps white.  

I finished staining all the pieces for the lowers of the columns.  Mike put one together and got it put on.  

Front Porch Posts (8/26/14)

Mike got a little more done on the bottom part of the posts for the front porch tonight.  Some of the panels need to be stained, then he can finish putting them all together.

Wrapping the Front Posts (8/23/14)

Today I added wood chips to the back next to the steps and freshened up the wood chips in the front next to the door.  

Mike did a bunch of figuring and we started building the wraps for the posts on the front porch.  We got most of the lower panels built and the stain started.

Steps Done (8/21/14)

Tonight Mike finished up putting on the front filler pieces on the side step.  This completes all the steps!  Yay!

A couple weeks ago I added a chalkboard to my Etsy site.  I received a message about it one day inquiring about the size of it and the girl included a picture of a fun organizational area with a chalkboard.  Today I decided to stage a fun pic with my own chalkboard, it turned out pretty cute!

More Steps & Moving Grass (8/19/14)

Tonight Mike put in more of the filler pieces that go on the fronts of the steps on both the back and side steps.  The back step is finished, the side just needs a couple more pieces.

I split 2 of the tall grasses that are in the rain garden and put them in the area next to the back step.

Feels so good to finally have the backyard coming together!

Outside Steps (8/18/14)

Mike worked on the outside steps tonight.  He put on the pieces to fill the front of step at the front door.

He also put on the side part of the side step.  Still needs some of the front filler pieces but it's getting there!

Mike got more of the steps done tonight on the back step.

Tonight Mike got a little more done on the back steps, started putting on the stringers for the step along the full length.
