Today Mike put in cabinets above the washer and dryer. It took 2 trips to IKEA to figure out the right size we need, luckily you don't have to take them apart once you've put them together to return them! We ended up doing 24" deep cabinets on the left side and a shallower/regular upper size one on the right to clear the dryer vent behind it. We still need to get knobs.
We finished all the base trim. Two closets were left, the small office closet and the closet by the side door. They are done! This completes all the trim!

Mike also put on the corner-round on both bathroom vanities and nailed on all the other corner-round through-out the house. When the cabinet installers put it in they only put a few nails in so we could finish the trim around it....well 2 years later its done!
Today I bought new bins for my shelves in the office closet. I did a lot of figuring and adjusting the shelf heights to get things how I want it. Well hopefully...I arranged empty bins, so hopefully I like the setup once I fill the bins.
Mike put the trim in the upstairs bathroom closet and front entry closet.
Today we picked up some shelves for the walk-in closet in the office. We ended up picking out free standing shelves instead of ones that attach to the wall, the sizing worked out good and the price was right. The best part about them is that I can put them together! One less thing for Mike to do!
Today we had our final electrical inspection and we passed! This needed to be done prior to getting our final building inspection, so we are one step closer!
Tonight Mike put the base trim in the downstairs bathroom closet and in Kate, Evan, and Jonah's closets. He also put the base trim in the walk-in closet in the office.
That completed all the trim in the rooms and just the closets are left. He put up all the trim in the closet in our master bedroom. He put up the trim around the door on the inside of the storage room, office walk-in closet, and closet by the side door.
This weekend Mike checked a few more things off of our list of things left to do on the house: 1. Fixed a couple outlets on the island that didn't work when he installed them - this completes our electrical so we are ready for our final inspection.
2. A lot of the tile on the hearth of the fireplace had come loose, most likely the surface underneath isn't a very good base for putting tile on; so Mike glued the tiles back on and is going to caulk the spaces between the tile instead of grout to make it more durable since the kids sit on it a lot. 3. He put black caulk in the seams between the tile and wood floor by the mudroom and bathroom upstairs. 4. Finished the attic access door that is in our master closet. Put a panel on it with insulation on the other side. 5. Painted the hardware on the yellow barn door downstairs. They were just metal and he painted them with a black hammered look paint. 6. Put on the vent grate on the wall downstairs for the furnace intake. We tried to find a different size to fit the opening better, but all we could find were larger vents so that will have to do. 7. Painted and put on the vent grate cover for the vent on the vanity in the upstairs bathroom. That was another we tried to find in an oil rubbed bronze but couldn't find so Mike just painted it black. We've cut our list in half in the recent weeks, it's feeling good and getting a lot closer to being able to say "It's Done!!"
Last winter our kitchen pipes froze on the really cold days. Mike was able to thaw them and knew he'd have to add more insulation once the weather was warmer. Today was the day.....he had to remove the side steps and drill some holes into the side of the house and add in spray insulation. Hopefully this does the trick!
