For some reason I was feeling really disconnected to our bedroom. I'm not sure exactly what it is - maybe the closet isn't the right size, or there isn't space for the TV if we put the dresser in the spot I thought it was going to be, or the color, or the wood trim?? Not sure. but it was really needing a change! I decided I wanted to make the wall behind our bed a shiplap wall and paint the room white. I have seen so many shows with rooms with white walls but I was always afraid it would be too plain in my house or I wouldn't be able to keep up with the decorating to make it pop. So I decided this is going to be my white room! AND I LOVE IT! The shiplap turned out perfect, Mike got the TV wires fed into the wall, we put up some new curtains and decor and it looks right out of HGTV!
We are really missing our hooks in our old mud room! The closet space is our new mudroom is tight to get to so I was hoping to rearrange things in there. We checked out the plumbing for the washer and sink from the basement and they could not easily be moved without running into a heat duct. I am not ready for that big of a project yet so we decided we would just make a bench and hooks in the closet for now. We started it last week. Mike built all the pieces for the hooks and bench. I painted them and the closet. I also painted the trim in the mudroom and the walls. I freshened up the door out to the garage with a coat of paint and it is done! The space is still a little tight to get to and not completely ideal, but will work for now. It's so much more functional with the kids and their backpacks and shoes than just a closet!
Kate got a beautiful chandelier for Christmas for her walk-in closet! Today I painted her the walls a pale pink, painted the trim white, and Mike hung the chandelier. Talk about a princess!! It's so pretty!
