Floor Sheeting (6/19/13 & 6/20/13)

Mike put down all the floor plywood sheeting on Wednesday and Thursday.  He stayed up until almost midnight Wednesday night putting it down and then covering it up with poly since rain is on the way. This weather has really been holding us back this year!  All the pieces have to be glued down and then screwed down.  For now he put a few screws in them to keep them in place and then we will go back and put the rest in.  We are now at the point that we need to remove the section of the house with the backdoor as it hangs over about a foot past the rest of the house -- weekend project!

Look at those clouds!  Go away rain so we can get something done!!

Floor Framing (6/18/13)

Mike finished framing the floor/ceiling in the addition tonight.  

Framing & Almost finishing front

Today Mike started framing the floor/ceiling of the addition.  He had to remove the rest of the stuff from the house that was in the way, including the hose and dryer vent....which we don't have hooked back up yet (guess I won't be doing any laundry....oh darn ;) )  He put up a header board above the section of the existing brick wall that we will remove eventually for access into the new section of the house.

I finished adding dirt, smoothing, and packing down the dirt along the sidewalk and put down grass seed.  I just need to finish the wood chips and the front will be done for now.

Today is Father's Day!  We spent Mother's Day working on the front porch and now Father's Day framing the back :)

Front Yard Clean up & Starting to Frame! (6/15/13)

Today Mike worked on getting the back addition ready to be framed for the ceiling/floor and upstairs walls.  There was a lot to "get ready" and things removed from the house before he could start much.  We had a couple rain breaks and tested out the sump pump -- it works! So needless to say looking at it, it doesn't look like much got done. 

He got one board on that had to be bolted on through the screws mounted in the blocks

I worked on cleaning up the front yard now that the sidewalk is done.  I took out the grass that was close to the porch, dug out some river rock that was under the mulch, put down new mulch, and started to add dirt where the sidewalk was dug out too wide.

It was a very dirty day! Stripped down to the diaper after the 2nd outfit was ruined!

Basement Floor & Sidewalk

Today the concrete for the basement floor and sidewalk was poured!  I'm so excited to at least get the dirt cleaned up in the front yard!  Mike can build the front steps now and we fix up the grass and put down wood chips!  I can't wait for normal :)

Mike got ambitious and stayed up late moving the patio blocks around.  He took all the ones we had up front for our temporary sidewalk and put them in the back in the path so it's not as muddy.

Prepping for Concrete (6/12/13)

Tonight Mike spread out the dirt in the addition and covered up the plumbing to get it ready for the floor to be poured on Friday.

Finishing Plumbing (6/11/13)

Tonight Mike finished up the plumbing in the floor of the addition.  He had to pressurize it to check for leaks, there were some leaks that he had to fix. Tomorrow it will be inspected.  Once the inspection is done the floor can be poured!
