Tiny bit if siding (10/21/13)

Not much got done today except for a couple pieces of siding....but Mike took a chunk out of his finger doing it so I guess it's worthy of a blog post :)  

Siding & Flooring Removal (10/20/13)

Today I took out the hardwood flooring in the section where the 2 new closets will go.  It was a little sad taking it out since it is the original hardwood and we had just refinished it about 3 years ago.....oh well the new stuff will be nice too!  Evan helped haul it out of the house and we had a little campfire in the driveway!

Mike got a little more siding up!  Almost done now, just a couple more on the back, we need to do the section where the side door is, and then around all the top of the trim.  

Closet Demo & Siding (10/19/13)

Today Mike took out a section of the wall in the living room where the future entry way closet and a closet for the office will go.  He also took the sheet rock off a section of the wall in the office where closets will go into the room.

The weather is holding out a bit and we were able to get a little more siding up!  This is awesome since we hoped that we could at least get the front finished before it got too cold!

Wiring & Siding (10/18/13)

Today I wired up the recessed lights downstairs.

 Mike put up more siding on the driveway side of the house.

Siding & Electrical (10/17/13)

We put up more siding on the front of the house today.  There's just a few pieces left that are a little tricky around the windows.

We also worked on electrical in the rooms we framed up downstairs. Hung some outlet and light switch boxes, hung up the recessed lights, and started running the wiring.

A Little More Siding (10/16/13

We got a little more siding done on the front today.  Looks like we have 2 more days of temps in the 50's then it goes down to the 40's!  We're hoping to get at least the front done in the next couple days and hope for some more warm days before the snow comes!

Upstairs Planning (10/15/13)

So the plan on the inside has been to work on the downstairs so we can get the kids down there and then rip apart the upstairs.  Kate's room is right in the center of the house where the stairs go and to open up the living space.  The kids sharing rooms is really not an option which is why we wanted to get all their rooms finished downstairs first......but I really want to do the upstairs first!! :)  Today it dawned on me that we can put our bed downstairs in the family room and put Kate in our room.  This way we can tear out her room and get a large part of the upstairs done now!  YAY!  So we did some rearranging and started some figuring on where walls will go.  We aren't quite ready to move Kate into our old bedroom yet, but at least the room is ready now when we get to that point.
