Plumbing & Siding (9/29/13)

Today Mike tore a little more out of the wall for the final window in the living room.

Mike's friend, Jason, came over to help with plumbing and ended up staying most of the day.  The vent pipe is finished and most of the piping for the furnace is finished so now we can run the furnace if we need to.  He needs to come back sometime this week and finish up a few things, then we can fully insulate the ceiling in the back room.

Our neighbor, Tom, is helping us out on the siding, he came over for a little bit and got the bump out section started.

Framing & Siding (9/28/13)

Today we worked on tearing apart the wall in the living room and front closet to frame in the windows.  Mike was able to frame up the spot for one window, but the other still needs some work.

We also started on the siding....didn't get too far but we still have a lot of other stuff to get done to be fully ready for it.  

Later we started framing up the rooms downstairs.

Sheeting (9/27/13)

Mike put up a little more sheeting on the house tonight....then we enjoyed a nice night out away from the house :)

Driveway side windows (9/26/13)

Today Mike took out the old kitchen window and framed up the hole.

He took out the side window in the living room, framed it up, and sheeted the outside.

We finished insulating the ceiling in the bedroom in the back.

Kitchen Window (9/25/13)

Mike framed up the kitchen window today.  It still needs to be sheeted on the outside and the old window pulled out, and then the new window put in.

We also started insulating the ceiling in the back room.  Mike put up plastic and we started putting in the "shake and rake" insulation.

Side Windows (9/24/13)

Today I painted the trim around the side door.

We have one outside wall left to put 3 more windows in and then the house will be ready for siding!!  Mike took off the soffits on that side and the aluminum that was around the roof.  Evan and I pulled some nails in the outside insulation.  

Of course the new kitchen window will go right where there is currently a cabinet so Mike took that down and started to tear apart the wall so he can put in the new window.

Front Windows (9/23/13)

Today we put in the front windows!  I felt ambitious and watched Mike put windows in a bunch of times so I got started on them while Mike was at work.  I cut out the OSB sheeting for each window opening and nailed down the cedar shakes that go under the windows.

 I put more grass seed down in the backyard.  It is coming in pretty good but thin and a little patchy so hopefully we will get more coverage now.

Insulation Finished & More framing for front window

Today I finished insulating the walls of the back room!

Mike worked on framing the front wall again to put in the windows.  He got it all framed up and the outside sheeted.

Tonight I wired up all the recessed lights in the back room.  Mike wired in a smoke detector and the ceiling fan in the bedroom. He also put in some styrofoam air channels into the spaces in the rafters - all this stuff to get ready for insulation in the ceiling!

I got about half of the insulation done in the back room today.

Mike worked on tearing apart the front wall and doing some framing for the windows.
