Kate's Room Ceiling Sheetrocked (2/27/15)

Today Mike sheetrocked the ceiling in Kate's new room and one of the walls.  I got all the seams taped.

Kate is so excited for her new room and already wants to sleep in it! :)

Kate's Room Insulated (2/25/15)

We had our framing inspection today.  It went fine, we just need to add in a 2x4 in 2 spots in the floor joists where we cut in some plumbing for more strength.

Mike insulated the outside wall in Kate's room and the wall next to Evan's room.....we will probably have beds on both sides of this wall....hopefully the insulation helps with the noise a bit :)

Kate's Room Framing Finished (2/24/15)

Mike finished framing Kate's new room today, so we are all ready for our framing inspection tomorrow.

Our electrical inspection today went good!  It's always the same inspector that comes, so we've seen him quite a few times.  Today when he came he told me he see's "lots of these whole house renovations" and spends a lot of time in Minneapolis "but by far this is the best one, 'he does good work!'"   What a nice compliment!  Feels good to hear now and then!  It's not easy doing this daily and living in it at the same time!

Kate's Room Electrical Finished (2/23/15)

We finished up the electrical in Kate's room tonight so we are all ready for an electrical inspection tomorrow.

Framing & Electrical in Kate's Room (2/22/15)

Yesterday Mike ran the air conditioner line, it went through Kate's room since the air conditioner is sitting on that side of the house.  The line needed to be run before we could frame the wall with the window.

Today we framed the wall with the window, the closet, and around all the duct work.  I ran the electrical as Mike framed, including 2 outlets in Evan's room.  We have a little more framing and electrical to get done and then will have both our electrical and framing inspections.

Return Ducts Done (2/18/15)

Mike finished up the return ducts tonight!  He finished with the office return duct.  Feels good to be done with that task!

More Framing in Kate's Room (2/16/15)

Tonight Mike framed up another wall in Kate's new room.  The plumbing for the upstairs bathroom runs through the wall next to the steps so he had to make the wall extra thick to make room for the plumbing.

Electrical & Return Ducts (2/11/15)

Tonight Mike finished the return ducts to our bedroom, Jonah's room, and Kate's new room.  The only return left is the one going to Evan's room.  

Kate and I worked on the electrical in her new room.  She helped put in the boxes and wire staples :)

And this is where I found her hammer after she decided to be done :)  I like her doll all tucked in!!

Framing Kate's Room (2/10/15)

Tonight Mike framed one of the walls in Kate's new room.  This is the wall that the door will be on.  Jonah's room and Kate's room will share a return vent, it will work perfect through the old window in the block wall.  Mike made up yet another custom vent piece to make it work.

Gas Lines & Returns (2/8/15)

Today Mike cut in the holes through the ceiling/floor and wall for the return vents for our bedroom and the hall by the upstairs bathroom.  

He also moved the gas lines from the side of the steps that the furnace used to be on to where it is now.  

Bottom of the Steps Lights (2/5/15)

Tonight Mike ran power to the lights at the bottom on the steps/hallway.  We have a switch now at the top and bottom of the steps for those lights.

Rest of the stairwall sheetrock (2/2/15)

Tonight Mike put up the other piece of sheetrock on the wall by the stairs to finish it off.  He also ran one of the electrical wires for the hall lights at the bottom of the steps.

Today Mike put up some sheetrock on the other side of the stairs.
