Final Concrete Footing (4/29/13)

Mike finished the last footing today that was short on concrete. He wrote "Stanton 2013" in the top :)

Mike got the holes filled back in for the footings with the help of Evan and the neighbor today!

Today Mike poured the footings for the front porch! Went pretty smooth except he was about 6 inches short in concrete on the last hole, so he will just mix a bag in the next couple days to finish it. Now the holes need to filled back in.

Flooring

Yesterday we picked up some flooring samples. I can't decide!! The "lighter" ones are about identical to what we have now. I love it, but do I want something different? If we stayed with the same shade, should we keep our existing hard wood and add in more of the same in the new sections?? The darker ones seem to have more of a black tone, not sure if I like that, but I definitely don't want a red tone and I see that a little in one of the lighter ones. Such a hard decision!

Mike made an animated view of what the front will look like. Here is the before and after. We are still deciding on siding colors and stone vs. wood on the posts, but this is basically what it will look like.

Starting the Front Porch!

We started my front porch tonight!! We had the steps and sidewalk taken out and holes dug for the footings. Now we have a big mess in the front yard and no steps to the front door, but hopefully we can move on with the rest of it quickly! Next is to pour the concrete footings and then build the deck. We still need to decide between composite or wood for the deck. And there is talk of more snow in the next couple days......NO!!
