We had a "momentous occasion" today!!  The very first room to get a real coat of color paint happened!!  I put a second coat of paint on the ceiling and then got the first coat on the walls!!  So exciting!!

Upstairs Ceiling Hall Repair(3/20/14)

Mike is about ready to frame the new bathroom/hallway and patch the ceiling.  There was a weird board up in the old ceiling that was making it not level so he took it out to make things level.

Upstairs Bathroom Ceiling (3/19/14)

Tonight Mike took out the boards on the ceiling that were framing the old rooms which will now be the bathroom and hallway.

Bathroom Fun (3/16/14)

Today Mike put some strips on the studs on one of the kitchen walls so the thickness of the wall matches the beam thickness.  He also did some wiring on the same wall.

Our plan was always to get the downstairs bathroom done before tearing out the upstairs bathroom, but now that we have a date for our cabinets (which is now moved to April 21st) we are a little antsy to get upstairs done.  So Mike tore out more of the bathroom upstairs today.  I took out the old wood flooring in the new bathroom section.  This opened up the bathroom more exposing our ONE toilet we have in the house even more!  I have been mudding the downstairs bathroom but of course it is not done yet and I didn't want to have to work around the toilet.  But in a little desperation of needing/wanting/preferring walls around my toilet I was able to sand out the wall around the toilet and get it primed and Mike put the toilet in!  Yippee!!!  I sure have learned an appreciation for the "finer" things in life with this renovation!!

Downstairs Bathroom Sheetrock (3/10/14)

We had our framing inspection for the bathroom downstairs today and all went well!  The only thing we needed to do was insulate the tube for the vent fan that vents outside.  Mike was able to wrap it with insulation and poly and we're good.

Mike hung a bunch of sheetrock in the bathroom, it feels like an actual room now!!  So exciting!!

We also got a date for our cabinets, they should be ready April 14th!!!  This includes all cabinetry they are doing for us which is the fire place and book shelves, kitchen cabinets, mudroom cubbies, wine bar, "media center" cabinets, and up and down bath vanities.  WOW can't wait!!  We have a lot to get ready in the next month, but now that the bathroom downstairs is almost sheetrocked we can tear apart the rest of upstairs!
