Plumbing Inspection, Insulation, & Sheetrock! (9/29/14)

Today we had our plumbing and framing inspection for the upstairs bathroom.  All went well so we can move on with sheetrocking the bathroom!  YAY!

We did some insulating in the walls and the ceiling.  More for noise on the walls since the bathroom is right in the center of the house and off the dining room. 

Mike got some sheetrock up and I started mudding.  We were planning on putting the toilet in right away but decided to leave it out so I can mud behind it easier.

Upstairs Bathroom Plumbing Done! (9/28/14)

Today Mike finished the plumbing in the upstairs bathroom.  YAY!  Feels so good to be done with it!  He had to go up in the attic and run the vent pipe through the roof.  He also put in the water lines for the toilet and framed up the wall behind the toilet.

Toilet Plumbing (9/27/14)

Today Mike got the old plumbing removed and the new plumbing run for the toilet and the vent for the sump basin under the steps.  

It's a 1 toilet house...(9/25/14)

Well we're down to one toilet again.  Mike took out the toilet in the upstairs bathroom so he can work on the plumbing for it.  We were hoping to have our plumbing inspection Friday so the toilet could go right back on, but taking out all the old stuff took a lot longer than he expected so now he will finish it over the weekend and we'll have an inspection on Monday....so no toilet upstairs until Monday night!

Staining Steps (9/24/14)

Today I got the side step, back step, and the deck under the canopy stained.  

Mike got the plumbing run to the sump basin that is under the steps for the plumbing in the wet bar and the washing machine.  

Upstairs Bathroom Water Lines (9/23/14)

Tonight Mike ran the water lines for the shower and the sink in the upstairs bathroom.  

I got the back step, side step, and deck under the canopy washed so I can stain them.

I also went shopping and picked out the tile for the bathroom.  Such a hard choice, but I picked what I've been visioning in my head this whole time.  Now that we have the tile I'm not so sure about my choices so I really hope I like them!

This is the tile for the floor, it is tile that looks like wood!

Trees & Bathroom Vents (9/22/14)

Today we planted our new trees!

Mike got more plumbing done in the upstairs bathroom.  He got the vent pipe run for for the shower and connected to the sink vent.  Now they just need to be vented through the attic and roof.

Bush/Woodchips & Plumbing (9/21/14)

Today I got our new bush planted and woodchips down.  We still need to plant the 2 trees.

Mike did more plumbing in the upstairs bathroom.  He got the drain lines put in and the vent for the sink.  Still needs to do the vent for the shower and tie it in through the roof.

Upstairs Bathroom Closet Sheetrocked (9/20/14)

Today we picked up 2 trees and a bush for out front.  We'll probably get them planted tomorrow after we move them around a few times to figure out the right place for them.

Mike did some more prep in the upstairs bathroom for the plumbing.

He also got the closet in the bathroom sheetrocked and I got it taped.

Plumbing in Upstairs Bathroom (9/18/14)

Tonight Mike worked on the plumbing in the bathroom.  He drilled the holes in the studs to route the plumbing/water lines through and the hole through the floor for the drain in the shower.

Starting Plumbing in Upstairs Bathroom (9/17/14)

Tonight Mike (and Jonah) got all the plumbing pieces that we already have all sorted out and a list made of what he will need.  He also got a start on the plumbing/water line for the shower.

Shower Framed (9/15/14)

Tonight Mike framed up the short wall that will be next to the vanity and the shower.  He also got a fan and installed it.  He put some wiring in the short wall for a light switch and outlet.  We just need to move the thermostat to the hallway wall and then the wiring will be finished.

More Upstairs Bathroom Wiring

Today we got most of the wiring finished in the upstairs bathroom.  We still need to pick up a fan, so once we get that it can be wired.  Mike ran the main power line down to the panel so all the power is hooked up and working.

Upstairs Bathroom Wiring (9/13/14)

Today we picked out fixtures for the bathroom and Mike did some more wiring.  He hung some recessed light cans and we did some figuring.  We ended up putting less recessed lights than we originally planned.

Upstairs Bathroom Ceiling (9/12/14)

Tonight Mike took the old sheetrock off the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom along with a bunch of blow in insulation that was on top of it.  What a yucky job, I'm so glad we are past this part in most of the rest of the house!

Upstairs Bathroom Wiring (9/11/14)

Tonight Mike worked on some wiring in the upstairs bathroom.  He also wired in the light and smoke detector in the hallway just outside the bathroom.

Hooks for Cubbie Bench (9/10/14)

Today Mike put on the hooks for the bench by the side door!  Feels more complete now!

He also cleaned out the stuff that we had stored in the upstairs bathroom so we can get started on the bathroom.

Office Closet Door (9/8/14)

Today Mike put in the door for the walk-in closet in the office.

Kate's Window Installed & Water Heater Moved (9/7/14)

Today we cleaned out all the bricks from the window well where Mike cut in the new window for Kate's bedroom.  Mike also took out the window and installed it properly.

Mike moved the water heater from one side of the steps to it's new location on the other side of the steps.  Now there is space to put in the pipe for the toilet in the upstairs bathroom.

Kate's Window Cut in (9/314)

Tonight Mike got the hole cut in the foundation for the window in Kate's new room.  He cut 2 sides of the block and then broke out the rest with the sledgehammer.  He put in the window temporary for now, he still needs to take it out and install it properly when we have time.

We found a little surprise hidden in the block wall on the left here....

About 10 empty vodka bottles!
